Send a reward to your advocate when they refer a friend who lands on any specific page(s) on your website.

Some example use cases:

Account creation
After the referred person creates an account on your site, they get redirected to the "Dashboard" page. So you may enter the page URL of  /dashboard to trigger a reward.

Purchase product
After the referred person purchases a product on your site, they get redirected to the "Payment received" page. So you may enter the page URL of /order/payment-received to trigger a reward.

Here's how it works
User signs up > Shares referral link > Friend clicks on referral link > Friend lands on a page you have specified as the trigger > Referrer gets the credit for the referral.

You can send a reward after a referred person has made a purchase from your e-commerce store or registered into a member only area etc. It works great for dynamic type URLs which show differently each time depending on the action taken.

Navigate to your Rewards page within your campaign; you notice 2 radio buttons when you choose “complete specific action on my website” type reward called “IS SAME AS FOLLOWING” and “CONSISTS OF FOLLOWING.

The “IS SAME AS FOLLOWING” rule allows you to reward someone for referring a friend to any page on your website. For example, if you wanted to trigger the reward when a referred person landed on your page, then you need to enter the URL /dashboard/ 

If that person landed on either or then no reward would be triggered.

With the “CONSISTS OF FOLLOWING” rule, you can reward people for landing on a dynamic URL that changes for each user.

A great example of this would be to reward your referrer when they refer a friend to your WooCommerce store who then make a purchase. 

An example URL structure in WooCommerce after purchase would look like this: 

Therefore, if you entered the URL /order-received/ as the “CONSISTS OF” rule, then your reward would be sent out when someone completed a purchase in your WooCommerce store.

Tracking referred person's identity

By default referred person's identity is not tracked by iRefer for the specific action type referrals. Since the specific action happen on your website without using iRefer form, we can't track it by default.

If you want to track the identity of the referred friend, then you can pass his email id as part of the URL query string on the specific action completion page. Required query string format is ?vsu_visitor_ext_id=user@email.address. You can also pass user's name with parameter name vsu_visitor_ext_name

In this case duplicate customer email check is enabled, and duplicate email entries are blocked.

Important while testing!

To test this reward for this scenario, after signing up and receiving your referral link, you should send the link to someone else and ask them to navigate to the trigger page after clicking on the referral link.

Duplicate entries are not allowed for specific action referrals. Also our system checks if referrer is trying to credit himself for a referral by using his own link and blocks it.  So if you are trying to land on your trigger page using your own referral link, we won't trigger the referral. So you should always send the referral link to  someone else  for testing.
